Working towards a dream I’ve had of making an outfit entirely by hand starting with raw fleece. Sorting, combing, spinning, weaving, sewing. This is a start towards that. A 2-2 twill I wove on a rigid heddle loom (picked the pattern with a needle) and sized with fish gelatin. Channeling Scottish crofter, straight out of a bog style. The warp is Icelandic fleece overcoat, and the weft is undercoat.

Here’s a sample weave and the handspun yarn covered in gelatin:

After washing out the fish gelatin, I missed the contrast it gave between warp and weft thread. For my next experiment I want the warp and weft to be more contrasting colors. I’ll do a few more experiments before starting a fabric roll.
